Beloved Beaumont ISD security guard passes away- leaves lasting impact
BEAUMONT, Texas June 15 2019— The Beaumont ISD community is mourning the loss of a beloved security guard after she died of natural causes earlier this week.
Paulette James has been a security guard for Beaumont ISD since 2012.
The majority of her time was spent at Charlton-Pollard elementary and Odom Middle School, where she facilitated traffic and helped out in the cafeteria.
Sharonda Mayfield is a longtime friend and co-worker of James. The two worked together at Charlton-Pollard Elementary and said this loss hits close to home for her.
“I was shocked. Amazing person, all the kids and staff, everyone loved her. She cared about the kids,” Mayfield said. “I don’t know how to explain it, she’s just go be truly missed.”
The two bonded by their love for the Dallas Cowboys. Mayfield says she grew up with James and ultimately ended up working with her at Charlton-Pollard Elementary, where she is an attendance clerk.
Mayfield says she’ll forever hold onto the memories and the lessons she learned from James.
“If you didn’t get a chance to know Ms. Paulette, know that she was a loving and kind person. She’ll just be truly missed,” Mayfield said.
Funeral services for James will be held at our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church on June 15.
