Charlotte security guard investigated after shooting driver
CHARLOTTE, N.C. June 19 2019 – Charlotte Mecklenburg Police and the State of North Carolina Private Protective Services Board are investigating three shootings involving private security officers in the past few days.
Police said that are investigating a shooting that happened Friday morning at an apartment complex in south Charlotte after a confrontation between a security guard and a man who said he was simply dropping off his two children at his mother’s home.
The man said that he parked his car to take his children to his mother’s apartment when a security guard confronted him. He asked the guard what happened and was told to leave the complex.
As the man returned to his vehicle with his children and was attempting to leave, the security officer ran in front of the vehicle and began shooting into the car striking the driver twice.
The driver was transported to the hospital and the security guard has been questioned and could face criminal charges according to CMPD.
