CLEVELAND, Ohio September 29 2019— A Cleveland Metropolitan School District security officer was re-assigned after she was accused of inappropriately touching a 13-year-old girl, officials said.
The 31-year-old woman was placed on restricted duty while Cleveland police and the school district investigate the incident. No criminal charges have been filed in the case.
She was reassigned to a job in the school district that does not involve contact with students, CMSD spokeswoman Roseann Canfora said.
She will remain in that job until Cleveland police and the Cuyahoga County Children and Family Services finish their investigations, Canfora said. The school district hired the guard in April, according to her personnel file. She worked as a Cuyahoga County Jail corrections officer for three months in the fall of 2018.
The 13-year-old girl reported the incidents Friday to officials at Louis Agassiz School. School employees called Cleveland police to investigate, according to police reports.
The girl told Cleveland police officers that the issues were ongoing for about a month.
The guard started by calling the girl “baby girl” and “boo” and progressed to rubbing the girl’s shoulders. She also tried to give the girl her cellphone number, according to police reports.
The girl told police that two times last week that she pinched her butt as she passed her in the school.
She also told police that that the guard again tried to give her a personal cellphone number when the girl was having a “bad day” at school, according to police reports.
