Man accused of shooting at Peoria security guard
PEORIA IL September 30 2019 — A Central Peoria man was held on $2,000 bond for allegedly shooting at a security guard at the Lexington Hills apartment complex.
Jaymes E. Gaither, 30, of 3415 W. Oakcrest Drive, appeared in Peoria County Circuit Court on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with the incident early Wednesday morning.
An Oct. 24 preliminary hearing was set.
According to Peoria Police spokeswoman Amy Dotson, the incident occurred at about 12:48 a.m. in the 3400 block of Oakcrest.
Officers responded to a report of shots being fired at a security guard at the complex.
The guard told officers that the shots were fired while someone was apparently towing a vehicle. No one was struck or injured.
Gaither surrendered to police without incident.
If convicted of the aggravated count, he faces up to 15 years in prison. If convicted of the reckless count, he faces up to three years in prison
