Pasadena MD. security guard pleads guilty to abandoning her post at DOD
BALTIMORE MD Aug 9 2017 A Pasadena woman pleaded guilty in federal court to abandoning her post while working as a security guard for a top-secret information facility in Anne Arundel County, according to a news release.
Shawn Penn, 41, was an active-duty U.S. Army Intelligence Officer who worked at Fort Meade and was also contracted as a security guard for a “sensitive compartmented information facility” in the Department of Defense in Anne Arundel County.
She “regularly abandoned her work station” between September 2015 and August 2016, according to the news release.
Her duties included reviewing computer monitors with live video from security cameras, checking for alarms, monitoring the facility temperature and performing exterior sweeps.
She falsely told her employer she had not abandoned her duties, claiming she “sat in her car,” “was across the street” or driving “around the parking lot,” when she was actually elsewhere, according to the news release.
She faces up to five years in prison for each of four counts of making false claims and making false statements.
