Repeat felon disarms drug store security officer during assault
Seattle WA October 24 2019
A drunken repeat felon attacked a Bartell Drugs security officer after a store employee refused to sell him alcohol, prosecutors said.
That homeless suspect, who has a history including kidnapping, robbery assault and theft, had been released on personal recognizance in a Seattle Municipal Court case last August, less than two months before the alleged Bartell Drugs attack.
In the most recent incident, suspect Deng Maer Kumdak took the security officer’s stun gun and tried to stun him with it, according to his third-degree assault charging documents.
Prosecutors said he also tried to grab the security officer’s handgun.
Police arrived about 5:10 p.m. on October 13 to the store at 400 S. Jackson Street in Seattle. They found Kumdak holding the officer’s stun gun, and he had a dual-purpose flashlight and stun gun in his right hand, according to an incident report.
Charging documents show the victim’s bloody arms and right hand next to a disrupted food display. Kumdak was arrested, then released three days later.
The assault charge was filed Thursday, October 17.
