Macy’s at the Livingston Mall struggle to detain shoplifter

Officers responded to Macy’s at the Livingston Mall on a report of Macy’s security struggling with a shoplifter.
Upon arrival, the suspect, 43-year-old Kipchoge Washington of Newark, had already been taken into custody by loss prevention agents.
Washington is accused of shoplifting from several stores and resisting the store security agent when they tried to detain him.
He was charged with shoplifting from Macy’s and Sunglass Hut.
He was remanded to the Essex County Jail on a no bail warrant for burglary out of Newark.
