Cliffside Park, NJ December 4 2019
Police arrested a North Bergen man accused of threatening to shoot up Cliffside Park High School, sending the school into lockdown on Monday morning, officials said.
Misael Echevarria, 45, was arrested and charged with false public alarm, terroristic threats and child endangerment for the Monday morning threat that sent the school into lockdown, said Bill Maer, the borough’s spokesman.
At about 8 a.m., the school received a phone call that was interpreted as a threat against the school, said Superintendent Michael Romagnino.
The school went into immediate lockdown and police were called to investigate, he said.
The lockdown was lifted shortly after at 10 a.m., but police were still investigating, said Romagnino.
