Terrified shoppers flee as man with hammer attacks security guards outside Tesco Express

Two security guards were rushed to hospital after a hammer-wielding thug launched attacked them outside a supermarket.
Eyewitnesses told Black Country Live that shoppers fled in terror as the man, who has not been caught, launched his attack on the cash-in-transit guards outside Tesco Express in High Road, Willenhall.
The raider failed to grab any cash and fled from the scene following the incident at around 4.45pm on Friday, December 13.
His victims were taken to hospital for check-ups but were not seriously injured, a spokesman for West Midlands Police said.
A man holding a hammer has just walked up to two cash-in-transit guards and began hitting them to get the money box off them,” one said.
“Shopper just began running away in sheer panic – some were even screaming. It was chaos.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “An investigation has been launched after two security guards were attacked by a man wielding a hammer outside Tesco Express in High Road, Willenhall, just before 4.45pm yesterday (December 13).
Both victims were taken to hospital for check-ups but were not seriously injured. The attacker made off empty-handed.
“Enquiries are on-going.
