Dayton woman caught shoplifter flees security, hits police officer with car
MIAMI TWP. OH December 25 2019
A 24-year-old Dayton woman accused of shoplifting Monday afternoon at the Dayton Mall JCPenney store is in jail after police say she hit an officer with her car while she was trying to get away.
Loretta Alexanderia Bizzell was arrested by Miami Twp. police in the 100 block of Rahn Road in Kettering, where a police chase ended after the woman crashed.
Bizzell was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of petty theft.
She also faces a robbery charge, but has not been formally charged, online jail records show.
The officer was assisting store security guards when the woman broke free from the security guards and made a break for the parking lot, police said.
The officer chased after the woman and caught up to her as she was trying to get into her car, grabbing her.
The woman broke free from the officer and got in the car, putting the car in reverse, dragging the police officer, and hitting a tree as she fled the mall, police said.
The woman hit another car before she sped off on Mad River Road.
The officer was not seriously injured, authorities said.
After fleeing, the woman allegedly hit a car on state Route 725 as police pursued her, officers said.
During the pursuit, the woman lost control of her car and wrecked near the intersection of West Rahn Road and Far Hills Avenue, police said.
