Two arrested at Twin River Casino during confrontation with security, police officers
LINCOLN RI December 25 2019 A police officer was injured and taken to the hospital Saturday night trying to arrest a Providence man suspected of vandalizing slot machines at Twin River Casino.
Twin River security alerted Lincoln police working a casino detail around 10:45 p.m. Saturday to a man they believed had twice previously damaged slot machines, according to a report from Lincoln police.
Pursued by security, the man, Moises Monterosa Solares, 35, headed for the exit. When officers tried to stop him, Solares pulled away from them and a struggle ensued, police said.
As police were trying to arrest Solares, a second man, Juan Monterosso, 65, of Providence, “began to interfere,” according to the report, and was himself arrested.
During the struggle, an officer “suffered a significant injury to his arm,” police said. The officer, described as a six-year veteran of the force, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was treated and later released.
Solares was charged with vandalism, disorderly conduct, obstruction and resisting arrest, according to the police report.
Monterosso was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Solares and Monterosso were taken to Lincoln police headquarters where they were booked, arraigned and later released.
