Police assist hospital security with drug arrest
JASPER IN Jan 24 2020 — Police made a controlled substance arrest after being called Wednesday evening to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
The Jasper Police Department was dispatched to assist hospital security with a man who allegedly admitted to smoking spice, which is synthetic marijuana.
Authorities escorted the man, Cody A. Greenwell, 30, Pekin, to the emergency room and brought a police K-9 to the parking lot at 6:44 p.m. Police say it alerted to the presence of an illegal substance in the vehicle that brought Greenwell to the scene.
Police searching in the vehicle found a plastic bag containing a green, leafy substance that Greenwell allegedly said was spice. Police said a field test confirmed that it was the controlled substance.
Authorities booked Greenwell into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:52 p.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of possession of a controlled substance. Greenwell posted bond later in the night.
