Man allegedly causes ruckus, fights with Lehigh Valley Hospital security officers
BETHLEHEM, Pa. Jan 25 2020 An Allentown man faces assault charges after authorities allege he refused to leave a Lehigh County hospital and fought with security as they tried to escort him outside.
Bethlehem police were dispatched to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man fighting with three security officers.
Security identified Anthony N. Mack as the man who was told to leave after arguing with the mother of his child in the emergency room, according to court records.
Security reported that Mack began causing a scene, telling security officers, “(Expletive) you, call the cops, I’m not leaving,” according to records. After Mack allegedly punched a sliding glass door in the ER, security tried to escort him out of the hospital.
He allegedly pushed one security officer to the ground and stepped on his hand, cutting it. Mack allegedly continued to fight with security, pushing, grabbing and trying to kick them. He was eventually subdued and handcuffed before police arrived. A search allegedly turned up a small amount of pot in his pocket.
Police charged Mack, of North Penn Street, with a felony count of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, disorderly conduct, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia along with a summary count of harassment.
District Judge David Howells arraigned the 26-year-old hours after his arrest, setting bail at $10,000. He failed to post bail and was sent to Lehigh County Jail to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 29.
