Washington County MD Free Library to hire security manager

The Washington County Free Library is taking applications for a manager of security.
The library security services manager would oversee the security guards at the library at 100 S. Potomac St. in downtown Hagerstown.
Frances Lockley of the library’s human resources department said the creation of the position is not in response to any specific incident.
“The position is just for someone to oversee our present security,” she said.
The individual hired would be responsible for directing library and contracted security guards to ensure the protection of library patrons, staff members, facilities, collections and all other movable properties, the advertisement states.
“Work includes conducting or directing investigations of criminal or civil complaints and supervising an around-the-clock operation for enforcing security; and adherence to rules of conduct, theft prevention, vandalism, and other acts of trespass,” the job description states.
The deadline to submit an application is Friday at 4 p.m.
Qualifications for the full-time position include an associate or bachelor’s degree. Police academy training is preferred, the job description states.
Experience required includes four years of community policing or directing security services for an educational campus or community service organization.
The candidate hired should be proficient with computers and have the ability to learn new software and systems. Experience with security equipment and surveillance systems also is required.
