Scheels store robbers pulled gun on security before police arrest them
SPARKS, Nev. Feb 7 2020 The Sparks Police Department arrested two men Wednesday who allegedly robbed Scheels on Feb. 2. Police chased one of the suspects in a vehicle from southern Spanish Springs north up the Pyramid Highway and tipped over the vehicle to end the chase.
William Richard Landon, 29, was arrested for robbery with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of being an ex-felon possessing a gun, carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing and resisting with a firearm and heroin possession.
Charles Nolan,, 45. was arrested doe robbery with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, eluding arrest and possession of stolen property.
Police said on Feb. 2 Landon and Nolan stole several items from Scheels at 1200 Scheels Drive. Scheels security tried to stop them at the front doors, but Landon pulled out a silver semiautomatic handgun and pointed it at the Scheels staff in order to escape, police said.
Detectives identified Landon and Nolan as suspects in the case. On Wednesday, the Regional Crime Suppression Unit tried to arrest Landon and Nolan at 4810 Galleria Parkway at the south end of Spanish Springs. There was a chase and Landon threw the silver semiautomatic handgun onto a roof, police said. Police arrested Landon and found the gun.
Nolan got into the vehicle along with Sarah Joanna Stephenson, 38, and led police on a chase north on the Pyramid Highway, police said. Nolan turned into Calle de la Plata and then onto a residential road, when an officer used what police called a “pursuit intervention technique” and Nolan’s vehicle overturned, police said.
Nolan was arrested on the felonies and Stephenson was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant.
Police believe Landon and Nolan were involved in a Jan. 13 burglary at the Nugget Casino.
