Allentown PA Feb 21 2020
A 28-year-old man is facing aggravated assault and related charges after fighting with security guards Monday night at Lehigh Valley Hospital at 17th and Chew streets, according to court records.
Edward Woods, of South Fifth Street in Allentown, was still struggling with three guards on the second floor of the hospital when Allentown officers arrived at 7:15 p.m., records say. Allentown officers handcuffed Woods after a brief struggle.
One of the security guards told police that Woods punched him in the face, knocking his glasses off, police said.
Woods continued to be uncooperative and was screaming obscenities and had to be sedated, court records say.
He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was arraigned by District Judge Wayne Maura and sent to Lehigh County Jail under $15,000 bail.
