West Virginia man arrested for attempted murder of Va. security officers
Aldie VA Sept 5 2017 A West Virginia man was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly discharged a firearm during a struggle with private security officers at a music festival in Aldie.
Charles E. Crowley, 33, of Shanks, WV, was charged with attempted second-degree murder and willfully discharging a firearm in a public place at Not Fade Away Music Festival, a privately held four-day festival in the 24000 block of Quail Ridge Way in Aldie.
Crowley was reportedly involved in a disorderly conduct incident prior to the shooting, Kraig Troxell, public information officer for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, said in a prepared statement.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Crowley allegedly discharged a firearm after a physical struggle with private security officers.
During the struggle, Crowley pointed the firearm at security officers and attempted to fire the weapon, according to law-enforcement officials.
The weapon was jammed and the security officers were able to detain Crowley before deputies arrived, Troxell said.
There were no injuries reported and a firearm was recovered at the scene, police say.
Crowley was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries he sustained during the physical altercation with the security officers, Troxell said.
Crowley is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without no bond. His first appearance in Loudoun County General District Court is pending.
