Grandview Medical Center secuirty, woman find missing 3 year old child
Birmingham AL Sept 6 2017 A young boy, without shoes, was found early Monday morning wandering around a field off U.S. 280 near Grandview Medical Center by a woman and a hospital security guard.
The child was reunited with his parents about 4:50 a.m. Monday, a hospital security guard confirmed.
The guard declined further comment on what happened.
Brooke Baker, a Birmingham woman who was coming to visit her husband who is in the hospital, had posted a plea on Facebook to help find the child’s parents.
“I just called the police and reported seeing a small boy- blonde hair -blue shirt wondering around the field across from Grandview Hospital on HWY 280 with no one ( he was crying ) @ around 4:00AM. The security guard has him now. I reported this to police. He held my hand and walked to the security car with me,” according to Baker’s post.
“He was so small around 3 or so. He never spoke either just cried. I am sending this out to help for anyone looking for a lost child,” Baker stated.
“I am so thankful for the child (is) reunited with his family,” Baker told Al.com later.
“I was driving into the entrance of Grandview. And saw a child in a field which was odd. It was dark, the child was crying and walking in circles,” Baker told AL.com. The child did not have shoes on and it was rocky, she said.
A hospital security guard arrived at the same time, Baker said.
“I called the police. 911,” Baker told Al.com.
“The child held my hand and I walked him to the security man’s car He went to the ER after that at Grandview,” Baker said.
Baker said she was later told that the young boy was missing from a nearby hotel. “And his parents were looking for him,” she said.
Baker said she did not know which hotel or whether anyone believed he had walked across normally busy U.S. 280.
