Police shoot-kill armed man at Novant Health’s Huntersville Medical Center
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. Sept 11 2017 – Police are investigating after officers shot and killed an armed man inside Novant Health’s Huntersville Medical Center overnight.
Calls came into the 911 center saying that a man was shooting inside the hospital at around midnight.
Huntersville and CMPD responded to the hospital on Gilead Road.
According to WSOCTV, fficers confronted the man, who they said was still armed. Investigators said the officers felt threatened by the man’s actions and fired several rounds, striking and killing him.
His name has not been released.
Police said no officers or patients in the hospital were injured.
Several people who said they were inside the hospital at the time of the shooting reached out to Channel 9, describing how scary it was when the shots rang out.
The State Bureau of Investigations has been called to investigate the shooting, and the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
