Downey CA security officer discharges firearm after driver attempted to hit him

A private security officer reported that a man refused to leave a business after being told to do so numerous times and attempted to assault him with a vehicle.
At approximately 4 a.m., officers responded to the 8800 block of Imperial Hwy regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call.
The male suspect was told to leave the location by security after assaulting an employee.
As the suspect was driving away, the suspect attempted to drive over the security guard with his vehicle. In fear he would be struck, the security guard discharged his security-issued firearm at the suspect vehicle.
The suspect fled onto westbound Imperial Hwy and out of sight.
Detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the incident.
There were no report of injuries or arrests.
