‘Love triangle gone wrong’: Woman killed in police car, Birmingham detective charged
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. April 12 2020 A woman was shot and killed late Friday night. A veteran Birmingham police detective is in custody and charged with Capital Murder.
“This is a love triangle gone wrong”, Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith said at the start of a news conference Saturday morning.
The shooting happened at Germania Park on Pearson Avenue in west Birmingham. Officers arrived at the park around midnight and found a woman shot multiple times inside an unmarked Birmingham police car, Chief Smith said.
Chief Smith added that a male off-duty Birmingham police detective was in the unmarked car with the victim.
The alleged shooter, Birmingham Police Detective Alfreda Fluker was also off duty at the time of the shooting. Smith said she’s a 15 year veteran of the department. She has been charged with Capital Murder and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has taken over the investigation.
This is the 11th officer-involved shooting of 2020 in Alabama. This is the 4th Officer-Involved shooting in Birmingham for 2020.
