Scott & White Medical Center-Temple security officer assaulted
Temple TX Sept 17 2017 A 39-year-old Marlin man allegedly attacked a hospital security guard because he couldn’t leave to smoke.
Charles Ray Robinson was a patient May 3 in the emergency room at Scott & White Medical Center-Temple when a uniformed security guard patrolling the hallways reportedly was confronted by Robinson. Robinson allegedly was belligerent and complained because he couldn’t leave and smoke a cigarette, Temple Police Officer Shawana Neely said Thursday.
Robinson allegedly stood in front of the security guard and took a fighting stance with his fists in front of him. He then started swinging at the guard and succeeded in punching and scratching the guard on the right side of his face, Neely said.
Because Robinson was being treated at the ER, he was left there. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was taken into custody Thursday by the Bell County Sheriff’s Department.
Robinson was charged with assault on a security officer, a third-degree felony, and a misdemeanor assault charge. Bail was set at $52,500.
