Cops charge Ottawa man for allegedly pretending to be security guard
Ottawa Canada May 28 2020
An Ottawa man has been charged with operating an unlicensed security company, after police received a complaint about him last month.
According to Ottawa Police Service, a man wearing a security guard uniform with “Undodo Security” written on the sleeves, performed unexpected security-related services for businesses with which he had no pre-arranged contract. He had been operating from December 2019 until April 2020. The man also drove a black vehicle with “Undodo Security” written on it, and with emergency lights in its interior.
On Sunday, the man was charged with fraud over $5,000, fraud under $5,000, public mischief and failure to comply with an order, as well as two charges under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act.
He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
Police believe there may be other individuals or companies that have had interactions with the suspect while he was performing unlicensed security duties.
