DC police officer killed after car collides with tractor trailer in Maryland
CLARKSVILLE, Md. Sept 26 2017 — A DC police officer died after crashing into a tractor trailer Monday morning in Clarksville, Maryland, authorities have confirmed with ABC7 News.
Police say 31-year-old officer Barry Eastman of Ellicott City died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the tractor trailer, identified as 53-year-old Ira Goldberg of Frederick, was not injured.
The crash resulted in a road closure on Route 32 just north of Route 108, according to Howard County Police.
According to authorities, Eastman drove into the opposite lane at around 8 a.m. for “an unknown reason” when he hit the tractor trailer.
DC police say Eastman was an officer with the 3rd District and had been on the police force for four years.
