AlliedUniversal Guard Charged in $660K Worth Of Rental Cars Stolen
HANOVER, MD June 21 2020— Two Baltimore City residents have been charged with the theft of 28 rental cars from the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport rental car facility between May and July 2019. The vehicles had a combined value of more than $660,000.
Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police and members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 26-year-old Shakierra D. Scott of the 2200 block of Round Road in Baltimore City and 31-year-old Travis J. Scott of the same address.
Detectives with the MDTA believe Scott used her position as a security officer with Allied Universal Security Services, a company contracted by rental car companies at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, to allow Travis Scott to drive the rental cars from the secure facility without a rental contract. Police stated in a report that the two then sold the rental cars.
Both Scotts face numerous charges including theft scheme greater than $100,000 and 28 counts of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, according to the MDTA Police.
