Security guard stabbed at Westfield Fountain Gate Kmart store
Melbourne AU June 26 2020
A man has faced court following an alleged stabbing attack at a Kmart store in Melbourne’s south-east last night.
Police were called to the store at Westfield Fountain Gate in Narre Warren about 5.50pm following reports of a stabbing.
Investigators were told security staff approached a man and a woman about items in their trolley which they may not have paid for.
The conversation then escalated into an “aggressive altercation”, police said, with the woman allegedly producing a knife and slashing the arm of a security guard.
The pair then ran back through the store with the two security guards following, where the woman allegedly lunged at one of the security guards, slashing his shirt.
Another shopper then went to the aid of the security guards and tackled the man, while the woman continued to threaten staff and customers.
