Corpus Christi School Police Continue Patrolling
Corpus Christi TX Aug 8 2020
Corpus Christi ISD police officers will report for duty even while the district offers all instruction remotely starting Aug. 13.
When schools are open and students are present, one officer is assigned to each middle school, two are assigned to each high school, and some officers patrol the elementary schools, CCISD police Chief Kirby Warnke said. With schools closed, officers will work 24-hour patrols on a three-shift rotation, responding to calls at campuses as needed.
Corpus Christi Independent School District Police Chief Kirby Warnke speaks about the increase in school threats after the Parkland shooting during a news conference at the Corpus Christi Police Department on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019.
The shifts will last from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., 3 to 11 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Warnke said. Officers are on 24-hour patrol during the summer.
When schools reopen for in-person instruction on Sept. 8, officers will return to traditional campus-based operations, Warnke said.
