Mall security locate, detain suspect in cellphone theft

A man who picked up another person’s cellphone and attempted to flee with it was stopped by mall security and detained for police.
Joshua L. Tillman, 29, of 5445 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, was charged with theft of lost or mislaid property.
At approximately 6:07 p.m. July 30, police responded to 5220 Fashion Outlet Way.
Tillman allegedly took the victim’s iPhone 11 after she left it on a chair while rearranging her shopping bags.
Mall security was able to locate the suspect, Tillman, before police arrived. He allegedly had the phone in his front left pocket.
Tillman was transported to the Rosemont Police Station, released on a D-bond and assigned a Sept. 11 court date at Rolling Meadows.
