Fl security officer finds toddler clad in only a pink shirt and a diaper at 3 a.m.
LAUDERDALE LAKES FL Sept 3 2020 — A toddler found wandering alone and barefoot at 3 a.m. in the parking lot of a Lauderdale Lakes apartment complex, clad in only a pink shirt and a diaper, has been reunited with her family.
A security guard at the Pacific Point Place complex called the Broward Sheriff’s Office after he spotted 2-year-old Faith alone in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday.
Deputies conducted a four-hour search, door-to-door search at the sprawling apartment community, located at 3700 Pacific Point Place, just south of Commercial Boulevard and east of State Road 7.
Investigators from the sheriff’s Child Protective Investigations Section temporarily took custody of the child as the search continued for her guardian. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue examined the little girl and she appeared in good health, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis.
The child’s grandmother, who lives at the apartment complex, was located during the search, deputies said. The child’s mother arrived a short time later. The grandmother had been babysitting the child at the time of the incident.
Both women were questioned, though investigators said it appeared that the little girl had slipped out of the apartment on her own through a door that was accidentally left unlocked.
