Injured Traveler Can Pursue Claim TSA Screener Committed Battery
St Paul MN Sept 3 2020 A man who claims an airport screener committed battery against him can move forward with a lawsuit against the Transportation Security Administration.
In some cases, the U.S. government has waived its sovereign immunity over certain claims involving these screeners, a divided Eighth Circuit said Monday.
Brian Iverson went through security at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, using crutches due to a prior injury.
During a pat-down search, a transportation security officer allegedly pulled him forward and then abruptly let go, causing Iverson to fall and injuring him. He sued for battery and negligence.
The trial will continue against the TSA employee.
