Alleged shoplifter dragged Woodstock officer with her car, police say
Woodstock GA Oct 5 2017 A woman accused of dragging a Woodstock police officer with her car was arrested Wednesday in Marietta, officials said.
The officer responded to a shoplifting call about 2:15 p.m. at the Kohl’s department store on Highway 92 in Woodstock, police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said.
When the officer approached the woman, identified as Amy Ridge of Marietta, she was already in her car. Instead of stopping, Ridge drove off and dragged the officer “for a distance,” Duncan said.
The officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Ridge was arrested in the area of Barnes Mill and Merritt roads in Marietta, police said.
Ridge was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault, obstruction of an officer and shoplifting, Duncan said.
