Madison WI. Target security agent attacked by liquor thief
Madison WI Oct 11 2017 A man who apparently didn’t appreciate a security guard trying to stop him from wheeling a cart full of high-priced liquor out to his car, without paying for it, went after the store employee and punched him, before loading the booze into his car and driving away.
The shoplifting and battery happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Target, 201 Junction Road, Madison police said.
The thief had about $600 worth of liquor in the cart and was wheeling it out the door when the 21-year-old employee confronted him.
“The man began to push him and the victim decided it was best to retreat back into Target,” said police spokesman Joel DeSpain. “However, the thief was not done with the employee.”
The suspect chased after the employee in the store, and knocked him to the floor with a punch to the head.
“The shoplifter was loudly cursing, gathering lots of attention, as he loaded the stolen goods into an older red and rusty Ford Taurus,” DeSpain said.
The suspect is black, 50 to 60 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, medium to heavy build, 250 pounds, gray beard and short gray hair, wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans.
