Nashville TN Dec 8 2020
33-year-old Morgan Hammer was charged with criminal impersonation, assault, and drug paraphernalia after she bit a hospital security guard while Metro Nashville Police was taking her into custody due to a warrant regarding her failure to be booked in June.
On April 29th, Morgan Hammer checked into a Red Roof Inn located at 2407 Brick Church Pike. The state citation states the hotel staff contacted the police due to the suspicion that Hammer provided an ID belonging to someone else. Hotel staff also told officers that Hammer claimed she was a nurse but could not provide identification. Hammer later changed the story and told them she was an active-duty Army nurse and showed hotel staff a printout of her benefits.
When officers spoke with Hammer they stated she was unable to answer simple questions regarding her service in the military. According to the officers, she could not provide her duty station or tell them what her occupational specialty was. Hammer then told officers she suffered from a head injury when she was shot in the back of the head. The citation also stated she was unable to provide a military or veterans ID. Officers were able to contact the VA in an attempt to prove her story, but they had no record of Hammer in their system. Hammer was given a citation and a booking date was set for June 5th. She did not appear on the set date and a warrant was issued.
On November 21st, Metro Nashville Police Officers made contact with Morgan Hammer at the Walgreens located at the intersection of Franklin Pike and Old Hickory Boulevard. When they searched her person, they discovered a used needle in her purse that she admitted she used to inject methamphetamine. The next day, MNPD responded to Nashville General hospital to collect Hammer. As they were walking to the patrol car Hammer bit a hospital security guard, Philip King, on his left arm.
On November 22nd, Morgan Hammer was arrested and charged with criminal impersonation, assault, and unlawful drug paraphernalia. The unlawful drug paraphernalia and criminal impersonation charges were later dismissed. She was found guilty of assault and sentenced to ten days in jail.
