Former Norwalk CT Home Depot cashier accused of stealing merchandise
NORWALK CT Oct 11 2017 — A former Home Depot cashier was arrested on larceny charges Monday after police say he failed to scan more than $1,600 worth of items for people he knew.
James Garcia, 26, of Oak Street was charged with fourth-degree larceny after a months-long investigation by store loss prevention personnel.
Store security personnel told police in July that Garcia had been observed deliberately not scanning items in May and in June at the Connecticut Avenue home improvement store.
The total of the merchandise was $1,604.83, police said.
A warrant for Garcia’s arrest was obtained and he was arrested on Monday morning.
Garcia’s bond was set at $5,000 and he was given a court date of Oct. 13.
