Teenager accused of shooting security officer in Tennessee
MEMPHIS, Tenn. Oct 13 2017– A security officer sitting in his car while on duty at the Hillcrest Apartments Sunday evening was attacked, shot and became a victim of an attempted robbery.
The security officer was armed and able to fire several shots at his attacker but the suspect fled.
Memphis police now say that it is a 13-year-old boy who is being accused of shooting the security officer.
Memphis police said that the teenager was charged with attempt to commit especially aggravated robbery in the attack on the security officer.
A police report says that as the security officer was sitting in a vehicle, the boy pulled a white shirt over his face, opened the vehicle’s door and started shooting.
Lt. Karen Rudolph says the security officer fired back and shot the teenager in the foot.
Authorities say the security officer has been released from the hospital.
The teenager’s condition is unknown, and it’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
