94-year-old crossing guard helps students in South Carolina
ANDERSON, S.C. March 8 2021
“In the middle, I let them out. And I stop this traffic – I stop this. And let the school traffic out. It’s simple,” Estella Williams said, according to WYFF.
Williams starts and ends every day right in the center lane of 28 Bypass in Anderson.
She started helping people cross the street 25 years ago. Her son-in-law, a policeman, needed someone for the job.
“Oh yeah, oh yeah see I don’t let nobody stay too long, see I try to keep it going.”
Williams says that she will continue to work for another year.
“Yeah I keep the kids safe. And the people,” she says.
