Reward increased to $100,000 in fatal shooting of security officer outside west Oak Cliff credit union
Dallas TX March 18 2021
Six months after Jose Montes was fatally shot while he was servicing an ATM outside a west Oak Cliff credit union, the reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case has been raised to $100,000.
Dallas police were called about 9 a.m. Sept. 14 to the Neighborhood Credit Union in the 1500 block of North Cockrell Hill Road, near Adler Road, where they found Montes wounded.
A routine traffic stop in December 2018 ended in a violent scuffle between two Richardson police…
The 28-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he died.
According to witnesses, a man wearing a black jacket with “Police” on the back confronted Montes and shot him with a rifle.
The gunman took duffel bags from Montes’ armored vehicle, then fled in a white Volkswagen Passat driven by a woman, police said.
Detailed descriptions of the gunman and the driver have not been released.
Montes is survived by his wife, Amara Voth, and infant son, Ayden. A GoFundMe page has been set up to benefit them.
“It’s just very hard,” Voth told KXAS-TV (NBC5) in September. “We looked forward to our future.”
