New York NY Oct 21 2017 A 15-year-old student at Bronxwood Preparatory Academy punched and kicked a school safety agent at dismissal, injuring the woman’s eye so badly that she required emergency surgery, police said sources Thursday.
The teenage girl left the East 228th St. school at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday and returned a few minutes later but refused to go through the building’s scanning station, according to the sources.
School Safety Agent Landrea Davis blocked the teen from entering the school and the angry student attacked Davis, punching and kicking her, sources said.
Davis was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and then transferred to Montefiore Medical Center, with a possible tear to her cornea.
The student was arrested and charged with assault, cops said.City Education Department spokeswoman Toya Holness said Davis is recovering in the hospital and appropriate disciplinary action is being taken.
“School safety agents play a vital role in ensuring the safety of school buildings,” Holness said. “We are working with the NYPD to ensure it is investigated and addressed, and we are providing the school with additional support.”
