Gary police capture suspects in security guard shooting
Gary IN Oct 23 2017 Police apprehended four individuals early Saturday after a brief chase following a shooting at 2:55 a.m. on Melton Road, according to a news release from the Gary Police Department.
Police responded to Temptations, a nightclub at 6900 Melton Road, to a call for a gunshot victim, the release states. They discovered a security guard there suffered a gunshot wound. Police were given a description of the suspects and the victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Moments later Gary officers spotted a vehicle matching the description leaving the area and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver and occupants fled westbound with officers in pursuit to the area of Second Avenue and Hayes Street, where one individual exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, the release states.
Officers apprehended the individual.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle continued to the Westbrook area where the vehicle stopped and three subjects fled on foot, the release states. Gary police and K-9 officers apprehended all three without incident.
