Bullpen-jumping Dodgers fan wanted to fight security guard
Los Angeles CA Oct 27 2017 A Dodgers fan was led away in handcuffs after he climbed into the Astros bullpen during a wild Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
In a video posted on Twitter, the man in a Dodgers jersey is seen jawing at someone before he climbs and falls into the Astros bullpen during the 10th inning of the Astros’ 7-6 win in 11 innings. His dumb idea doesn’t last too long. Once he he falls into the pen, Astros bullpen coach Craig Bjornson bear-hugs and holds him away from any players until multiple security guards come to detain him.
Astros reliever Luke Gregerson told USA Today that the fan was yelling at a security guard who was in the Astros bullpen, but once the guard called for the fan’s ejection, that’s when he jumped into the pen to fight the guard.
“Security got there really quick, and it was like there were 30 of them,” Gregerson said. “Oh, my God, other than that it was nothing. I think the guy was mad at the security guy or something. He wanted to fight him.”
The fan was transported to a local police station and charged on a single misdemeanor charge.
