Teen arrested after attacking two hospital security officers
JOLIET, IL May 14 2021 A 19-year-old Joliet resident was arrested earlier this week after Joliet police say he punched two of the security guards in the face at the AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center. Joliet officers responded to the hospital and arrested Brian Guzman-Pena on charges of DUI-drugs, two counts of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated assault.
The incident unfolded around 11:10 p.m. Monday.
While officers investigated a crash at Glenwood and Larkin Avenues, Joliet police say they learned that Guzman-Pena was taken to the nearby hospital, and he was under the influence of marijuana.
“While being treated at the hospital, Guzman-Pena was making verbal threats to harm hospital staff and eventually struck a security guard in the face with a closed fist and bit a second security guard,” Joliet police reports show.
Following his release from the hospital, Joliet police took Guzman-Pena to the Will County Jail where he was booked into custody.
Jail records indicate that Guzman-Pena lives in the 1400 block of Riverhaven Trail.
