San Francisco-bound Jet Blue flight diverted after passenger snorted cocaine, acted erratically
St Paul MN May 23 2021 A New York man was arrested and charged with cocaine possession Thursday after snorting the drug and “acting erratically and causing a commotion” on a commercial flight, forcing the plane to be diverted to Minneapolis-St. Paul, authorities said.
According to federal court documents, Jet Blue Airlines Flight 915 was en route from New York to San Francisco when it diverted to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Witnesses reported that Mark Anthony Scerbo, 42, was walking up and down the aisle with a butter knife in his fist and snorting white powder. He had a bag of the powder on his tray, which a flight attendant retrieved and later handed over to police.
After landing, MSP Airport Police detained Scerbo and field-tested the powder, which came back positive as cocaine and weighed 24.5 grams.
If convicted on the cocaine possession charge, Scerbo faces a maximum of three years in prison and a minimum fine of $5,000. The FBI is investigating the case.
