Five men arrested after two incidents at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino
DOVER, Del. May 10 2017- Police say that five men were arrested following two incidents at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino on Sunday morning.
Around 1:58 a.m., officers working inside the casino as an off-duty assignment were called to the entrance of the casino to address three men refusing to leave the property after casino employees refused to let them in.
The three men reportedly became disorderly with Dover Downs employees and the Dover police officers working at the casino. When Dover officers tried to arrest the men, they all allegedly resisted. 24-year-old Rashawn Harris reportedly shoved a Dover officer and then tried to strike a Dover Downs casino security officer.
Police say a Dover officer tried to use a taser to subdue Harris, but it did not work. When the officer tried to take Harris into custody, 22-year-old Elijah Scarboro reportedly approached the officer from behind and placed him into a choke hold interfering with his ability to breathe. The officer suffered a significant hand injury. Other Dover officers were able to remove Scarboro and take him into custody after a struggle.
24-year-old Ronnell Harris was also arrested in the incident on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges. He was committed on $530 unsecured bond. Rashawn Harris was released on $2,300 secured bond on second degree assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and resisting arrest with force charges.
Elijah Scarboro was released on $6,700 secured bond on disorderly conduct, second degree assault, strangulation and resisting arrest with force charges.
Following the incident, two other men were arrested by Dover Police in the parking lot of Dover Downs casino. 24-year-old Darnell Fullman and 21-year-old De’Ron Williams met officers in the parking lot at 2:20 a.m after learning that the driver, Fullman, had a warrant for his arrest.
During the traffic stop, officers found that Fullman reportedly had a .380 handgun and a digital scale. Williams reportedly had 1.9 grams of marijuana.
Fullman was committed to JTVCC on $7,500 bond on two counts of possession of a firearm/ammo by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and drug paraphernalia. Williams was released after being charged with possession of marijuana.
