Patriotic Employer Award goes to hospital security team
San Bernardino CA June 22 2021
St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino recently received the Patriotic Employer Award from the secretary of defense.
Eladio Iglesias, a security guard at St. Bernardine Medical Center, nominated Dana Molina, the hospital’s security director, and her team for the award.
Iglesias was hired through the Work for Warriors program, designed to place active National Guard reservists.
In January, Iglesias was deployed to Washington, D.C., to support the presidential inauguration and stayed nearly three months. He was one of the guardsmen housed in a parking structure.
While Iglesias was away from home, Molina checked in with his family and supported their needs, according to a news release.
Molina and St. Bernardine Medical Center also regularly perform honor walks for military veterans who die at the hospital, draping the veterans as they are transported from the hospital while taps plays.
