Bail Bondsman Accused of Shooting in Fullerton
Fullerton CA July 11 2021
A bail bondsman was behind bars Friday on suspicion of shooting an innocent bystander in front of a Fullerton bar he had just been kicked out of.
Christian Hernandez, 29, of La Mirada, was being held on $500,000 bail, according to jail records, which listed his occupation as bail agent.
Police were called to the JP23 Urban Kitchen and Bar at 101 S. Harbor Blvd. about 1 a.m. Tuesday regarding the shooting, Fullerton police Cpl. Billy Phu said.
A 24-year-old man who had been standing in front of the bar was shot by a gunman passing by in a car, Phu said. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated for a wound, he was expected to survive, Phu added.
Hernandez had been in some sort of altercation inside the business earlier and was kicked out with another man, Phu said. Police suspect Hernandez intended to shoot at the building from a westbound car on Commonwealth Avenue, but struck the victim instead, Phu said.
He was arrested Wednesday and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm and shooting into an inhabited dwelling, Phu said.
