Officer accidently shoots himself at Westport gun range

An officer reportedly accidently shot himself at a gun range in Westport on Adirondack Lane that is used by local police departments.
According to an officer who was on scene, an off-duty officer shot himself in the thigh with a 40 caliber bullet accidentally as he was putting in or taking his gun out of the holster.
The incident occurred just after noon.
A group of Fall River and Westport officers arrived on scene along with multiple ambulances.
The officer was transported to the hospital where his condition isn’t known at this time.
Fall River Police Captain Barden Castro stated that he “can confirm that an officer was shot at the range in a training accident. He is currently receiving medical care for what is being described as a minor injury. No further information is available at this time.”
