Man kills himself at Bank of America call center
RIO RANCHO, N.M. Nov 6 2017 — Police say a man who barricaded himself inside a Bank of America call center in Rio Rancho died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday evening.
Around 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, police received a call about an armed suspect at the center near highways 550 and 528. Police say the employees evacuated themselves from the center and do not believe anyone else was in the building at the time.
Police later identified that gunman as Eugene Basurto. Officers negotiated with him for about four hours, but those efforts were not successful. There were no other injuries.

“In this case, I know we experienced a silence over the phone followed by an unknown noise,” RRPD Capt. Ron Vigil said.
The incident prompted a huge crime scene and blocked traffic in the area for several hours.
“We always want that peaceful resolution. So negations are part of that. We have contingencies in place that unfortunately may involve less than lethal force or lethal force.
Employees told KOB they cannot talk about what happened, but Bank of America provided a statement.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy,” the statement said. We will provide support to our teammates who may need assistance, including counseling and other resources.”
