Phoenix security officer detains man involved in fatal stabbing
Phoenix AZ Aug 11 2021 A man was fatally stabbed after a fight at a business on Tuesday morning in Phoenix and a private security officer was able to take the man into custody and detain him.
Officers responded to reports of a stabbing at a business near 11th Avenue and West Jackson Street at about 7:30 a.m., according to police spokesperson Sgt. Ann Justus.
Authorities are investigating the death as a homicide.
Police said they believe there was a fight between two men, which later escalated into a stabbing, Justus said.
A security guard at the business detained the suspect, an unidentified 32-year-old man, who stabbed 46-year-old Jeremy Konow before police arrived, Justus said.
Konow was taken to a hospital after he was found with a puncture wound. He later died.
Detectives were at the scene conducting their investigation, and the area was expected to be restricted for some time, Justus said.
