NY Public Safety Officer Killed by Apparatus

A public safety officer and fire company volunteer in western New York died after being run over by an apparatus backing up at a mutual aid fire scene.
According to a release by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened Tuesday evening during a fire in the town of Somerset.
Judy Spencer, 65, who volunteered for the Hartland Fire Company, was serving as a spotter for the driver of a Barker Fire Department apparatus when it backed over her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation.
