Allied Universal sued by employees for discrimination
New York NY Sept 26 2021 Allied Universal and four employees who accused it of cheating them and other workers out of pay, and giving Black security officers less lucrative assignments, resolved the workers’ lawsuit, New York federal court records show.
Akeya Griffith, Shirley George, D’Marco Anderson, and Gina Eggleston accepted the security services giant’s offers of judgment in the case, according to a notice filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Wednesday.
Griffith will receive $15,000 and George, Anderson, and Eggleston will get $5,000 each, according to the filing.
Griffith filed the proposed class lawsuit against Allied Universal Security on the basis of racial discrimination and for money owed for overtime.
